Team Bios

Adam Hsieh (Team Mentor): Associate Professor and Associate Chair of the Fishell Department of Bioengineering 

Eileen Harrington (Team Librarian):  Eileen works at the University of Shady Grove Priddy Library as a Health and Life Sciences Librarian

Adam Berger (Team Liaison): I am a Bioengineering major in the Clark School of Engineering. During the summer, I am an intern in a biomedical research lab and during the school year, I am a chemistry lab TA. On weekends, I enjoy volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and at the local hospital. To relax, I enjoy playing drums and percussion with various groups and orchestras, and I enjoy playing tennis. I hope to one day be a physician.

Amy Zhou (Team Clerk): I am a pre-med sophomore double majoring in biochemistry and economics. In addition to working as a research assistant in the department of biology on campus, I volunteer at the hospital and as a tutor. I am constantly reading and have always gravitated toward thought-provoking science fiction such as Huxley’s Brave New World and Orwell’s 1984. On top of being a nerd at heart, I also love films and jamming out to music.

Angelina Nou: I am a bioengineering major here at the University of Maryland. After undergrad, I hope to get a graduate degree in bioengineering and then conduct research. In addition to Gemstone, I conduct research at Children’s National Medical Center. During the school year, I am involved in the UMD fencing club and Engineering World Health. In my free time, I like to explore campus and hang out with my friends.

Casey Lim: I am a bioengineering major in the Clark School of Engineering following a pre-med track. During the year I am working in the Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials Laboratory here at University of Maryland. I am also Vice President External of my sorority, Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority Inc. In my free time I love listening to music, reading, binge-watching tv shows, and hanging out with friends.

Devayani Srinivasan (Library Liaison): I am a Bioengineering major at the University of Maryland. I am a JIFSAN intern, working at the FDA Laurel location. After my undergraduate degree, I hope to either go into grad school or begin using my degree in the industry. Outside of school, I learn and perform Indian Classical dance, both solo and with the UMD dance team, Moksha. In my free time, I love singing, listening to music, reading as many books as I possibly can, and spending time with my friends.

Glory Mgboji: I am a Biochemistry major in the college of Computer, Math, and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland. Outside of school, I perform with my sisters in a vocal group called TrueVoice. In my free time, I love to sing, listen to music, and spend time with family. I plan on becoming a physician in the future.

 

Irene Jones (Website Designer): I am a Mechanical Engineer in the Clark School of Engineering. I am part of the Society for Women Engineers and Terps for Change which is a volunteer group here at the University of Maryland.  I enjoy listening to music and taking photos in my spare time.

Marquise Singleterry: I currently pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry with the college of Computers, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences following a pre-med track. I'm a sister of Beta Psi Omega, a professional Biology fraternity, as well as a member of Maryland Dhoom, a South Asian Fusion Dance Team. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering with different organizations on campus, reading and relaxing in the great outdoors. After college I plans to attend medical school and become a physician.

 

Megan Dang: I am a Bioengineering major in the Clark School of Engineering. During the summer, I am a swim coach and an intern at NIH. I am currently planning on attending graduate school after obtaining my undergraduate degree. In my free time I love cheering for the UMD field hockey games with my dad, eating ramen with my roommate, and reading on my beanbag.

Mina Al-Salihi: (Financial Liason)I am currently a premed biology student. I have a passion for learning about medicine and aspire to become a physician. My research experience in the past has involved working with lysosomal accumulation and studying sugar transporters in D. melanogaster. Some of the time I spend on campus involves running Food Recovery Network, serving as the Secretary for the Muslim Student Association, and guiding students as a Section Leader in Gems100. I spend my free time engrossed in cat videos, playing badminton, and reading.

Moli Karsalia: I am a General Biology major in CMNS. After my time here at University of Maryland, I hope to go to medical school. I am currently a volunteer at the campus Health Center. In my free time, I enjoy catching up on my list of books and playing volleyball.

Phillip Tran: I am a Bioengineering major in the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland. In the summer, I am an intern at the National Institutes of Health. At school, I volunteer at the College Park Volunteer Fire Station as an EMT.

 

Sherin Menachery: I am majoring in Neurobiology & Physiology in CMNS and minoring in creative writing. I am the secretary of the Pre-Med Society on campus as well as a member of the Fundraising Committee for the Primannum Honor Society. I enjoy playing piano, running outside, and spending time with my family and friends.
