Research Question

What combinations of nanofibrous, small-diameter vascular tissue scaffolding techniques are the most effective at mimicking innate vessels?

Why Improve Tissue Scaffolding Techniques?

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for adults in the United States currently, especially since the systemic disease covers such a broad range as it incorporates any illnesses relating to hearts and vessels.  If a blood clot forms, it can stop the blood flow which can cause a heart attack or stroke. Team Vessel's goal is to create a graft that can be strong, yet small so clotting doesn't occur in the graft. Anybody can be a victim of cardiovascular disease so it is essential that surgeons must discover better grafts to improve the healing process.
